Resilience des fleurs

Resilience des fleurs is a project inspired by flowers that survive in harsh conditions. These are flowers that require low maintenance, bloom in winter or in warm dry climate, and thrive in poor soil condition.. These flowers are known for their beauty, yet beneath the fragile appearance also resides a strong resilience.

The collection is designed for womenswear Spring/Summer 2023.

Hellebores flower appears from mid to late winter, when other flowers rarely emerge. It can withstand cold, wind, freezing rain, ice, and snow. One of its unique trait is that the white petals would turn into deep pink during winter.

Siberian Iris is the most adaptable iris that is capable of surviving chilly weather and frost. It is drought tolerant and pest resistant. Moreover, it is tolerant to both wet and fry soil, but thrives better in well-drained soil. The graceful shape of the flower with distinctive pattern on the petals make it an iconic beauty.

Creating color palette by deriving colors from the primary visual.

Attempted to create a repeated pattern, however the results was unsatisfactory as it looks  stiff and loses the fluidity of flower forms.

Sketching out the curvy outline of the petal and the veiny print on it.

Textile embellishments such as embroidery or laser cut in veiny pattern.

Print Development: Veiny prints (found in Siberian Iris) with contrasting color at the center ( found in Pansies) and scattered black dots (found in Orchids)

Fabric Board

The main fabric used in this collection is duchess satin. Duchess satin has great sturdiness to achieve the silhouette and a nice sheen that would elevate the prints.
